Hardanger Kaffebrenneri

Displayed here are 4 branding concepts I presented to my client Hardanger Kaffebrenneri. The concepts presents as four different ways of communicating my clients coffee roasting startup that will sell products to tourists and locals with quality and price ranging from high to middle range. I was given a lot of freedom on this project and I love all of these concepts, which is why I have chosen to share all of them. 

Hardanger Kaffebrenneri want to put emphasis on being from Hardanger - a special place in Norway with its beautiful fjord and mountains. This is a good marketing strategy - the tourists will enjoy bringing home a piece of Hardanger and the locals will feel pride in buying and owning a product that is from a place they recognize as their home. 






Concept 1. 

Eventyrlig kaffe fra HardangerSpellbinding coffee from Hardanger






The logo marks are inspired by mountains and the quality of local business. The mountain, the stars and the style of illustration communicate the magical and spellbinding effect of the Hardanger fjord. The marks also display a homemade/local/realness quality.​​​​​​​


The brand colours are inspired by coffee and its warming capabilities. The brand fonts consist of a modern header and subheader together with an old fashioned copy font. These fonts combined display a nice contrast and communicate friendliness and knowledge. 






Concept 2. 

Det moderne Hardanger / The modern Hardanger





Inspired by mountains and the large amount of apple fields in Hardanger - with a modern twist to the illustration style. 

This is a logo mark that stands out - at least in Hardanger. It is a fresh breath in a sea of mundane expressions. It tells a story of something new and exciting - as Hardanger Kaffebrenneri is. The logo mark also displays a sense of quality and seriousness. 


The brand colours are inspired by apples and autumn. Since the logo has such a modern expression I have chosen to use an old fashioned font for all the brand fonts. This font will bring in the realness and the feeling of knowledge. 





Concept 3. 

Et moderne og rent fjord eventyr / A clean and modern fjord adventure





Inspired by fjords and their minimal clean vibe.  

A slightly less “challenging” logo than the one displayed in concept 2, but still display as a modern expression from Hardanger. The logo mark is clean and gives a feeling of quality. It really communicates Norway. 


The brand colours are inspired by fjord, mountain and snow - the pure and beautiful parts of Hardanger and the North. The brand fonts are modern and clean - they highlight the pure feeling of the concept. 





Concept 4. 

En drøm om fjell, fjord og Norden / A dream about mountains, fjords and the North





Inspired and drawn from an actual mountain in the town in which Hardanger Kaffebrenneri is placed.

Modern, different and interesting composition. This logo communicates something new and exciting, but also plays on the near and dear Hardanger. 


The cold and nordic brand colours are dreamy and highlights the magic of Hardanger. The colours are also different and exciting - they talk of something new. With these dreamy colours I felt the need for fonts that are serious and pulls us back to earth. The brand fonts are therefore clean and professional.
